Here’s a Secret that applies only to Quadra AV-model owners.
On the CD InstallMe disc that came with your Mac, you’ll find a folder called Apple Extras. Inside is a folder called Sound Effects. This folder contains an extension called Sound Effects. If you install this extension in the System Folder and restart your Mac, you’ll find a new option in the pop-up menu of your Sound control panel: Effects.
When you choose Effects, you see a new window that lists several undocumented sound effects, which essentially are various amounts of echo (reverb). From now on, any time your selected alert sound plays, it’ll play with the reverb effect you selected!
